Thug Life was popularized in hip-hop culture with figures such as Tupac Shakur, who in 1993 joined Big Syke, the Rated R, Mopreme Shakur and Macadoshis to form Thug Life , a group to whom we owe the release of Thug Life: Volume 1.
"I do not consider myself a true activist. I am a thug and my definition of thug is: half the elements of the street and the other half of the Panthers, basically a movement for independence. Explain that we want self-determination. We want to do it in self-defense and by all necessary means. It comes from my family and that's the thug life. It's a mix. "
The legend of Hip-Hop had "thug life" tattooed on the stomach , often interpreted pejoratively while it was the acronym for "The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody" , meaning that children are the future, and to feed them with hatred, to let them accept abuses of all kinds, would trigger a snowball effect ... converting them into oppressors.
